There is only 1 reason I recommend any breeder and that is because they do health tests. I am not with breeders 24/7 as I manage my business and have my own dogs to care for , as such every breeder may indeed have faults that I am unaware of, that is when YOU come into the picture. I have placed on site many many articles on what you should expect from a breeder and that includes me. 1) You must question the breeder via email, phone etc on their dogs, health tests etc 2) You MUST question the breeder on the knowledge of the breed. 3)You MUST question the breeder about costs. 4) Ask the breeder for socialisation sessions. 5) Watch in person or via video how the litter play. 6) Ask for references from other owners. What to do if you are unhappy with a puppy. 1) Contact the breeder 2) Get a vets opinion on the puppy 3) Ask breeder for a refund , DONOT BOND RETURN IT. 4) Ask for a different pup from a different litter if necessary. I have been told to inform buyers that from today ONE BREEDERS arrangements are : 1) pups will be sold without bonding sessions. 2) They will not respond to lots of emails for new pictures you get two only. 3) You will not be viewing the parents , probably just the sire and a bitch unrelated due to condition of dam. 4) Food advice will be given in his puppy pack. 5) After declaring you will have a pup a deposit is expected . I have been inundated with many questions about the sales of THESE litters. I made it very clear in several posts that these are not my dogs . I have had limited access to all of them and usually only when I demanded it. I have advised on food, he states he does not need advice , his feeding is the very best...I cannot make breeders do all that I do. I have taken his pups to the vet on several occasions even when these breeders refused to. Socialisation , many breeders in the UK do not socialise their pups well, many Top Uk Show breeders work full time and rarely see the litters they have. Most do not have children and they never get to see children. In my honest opinion that is a breeder to stay away from. The most important part of a dogs life is its first 6 weeks. All of my dogs are handled after day 2 , they are living with us , other pets and children, noisy kids. They are exercised several times daily with us and mum, they are not shut away and only ever see a human when feeding time happens. Bonding sessions are a must if you want one of my pups. I have at the most 5 litters per year out of the 4 breeds I own ,usually only 3-4 because I like to spend time with each individual puppy. If a breeder is having a minimum of 5-10 litters yearly the quality of that pup will suffer. ASK breeders how many litters they have yearly.I have spent some time watching the pups you have bought and spent some time attempting to show them how to be socially functioning puppies, all responded well in that short space of time, but all pups need stimulating for more than 2 hours per day. NEVER rush into buying a puppy, a recommendation is not a reference, hence we have this site. REMEMBER A PET PROFITEER IS ONE THAT HAS MANY LITTERS OR JUST ONE THAT THEY HAVE LITTLE TIME FOR. A BREEDER THAT DOESNT TEST CORRECTLY USING THE RIGHT VETS OR ONE THAT DOESNT SOCIALISE PUPS WELL. THEY USUALLY HIT DOGS SO ASK THEM ABOUT HOW THEY DISCIPLINE THEIR OWN PETS. A PET PROFITEER IS SOMEONE WHO DOESNT CARE ABOUT YOU . It is also very important not to over expose a puppy too early . Many new owners are very keen to take over socialisation experiences, but if you over expose any small mammal they become stressed very quickly and react in ways that are not very socialble, they will become shy, fearful and stressed. In the first two weeks the only person that should mingle with YOUR new pup is YOU, by all means take the puppy out with you in your arms but do not force the pup onto people as this has the adverse affect on socialising. More harm is done by owners who do not understand how to live with a new pup than any a breeder does. I have on site what YOU need to do to socialise your puppy, its a comprehensive list with clear instructions and advice. Please try to listen to advice, its for a better experience for you all. I studied animal psychology before undertaking a law degree so I understand how most animals function. I studied animal language and how animals live , fascinating experiences I have had on field trips watching this in action. So trust me when I say something, its not for my benefit its for yours. I have heard many dog trainers come out with the most useless lickybum ever because they did a course on dog training. Most have NEVER lived with a pack so understand very little about how canids interact, most experiences they have are with their own two dogs and the puppy classes they run one day per week. Think we all can recall Barbara Woodhouse ....... Now , if you are worried about pups you have bought I can try to resolve your issues, but only so much as a breeder will listen, most will not. courtesy of www.eurobichon.com
